Tuberculosis Elimination Heroes Award
In 2023, CTCA established the California Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Heroes Award to recognize the outstanding efforts of community healthcare providers, leaders, and individuals affected by TB in preventing its devastating impact. This award aims to honor their contributions and inspire others to take action in eliminating TB in California. View the full list of award recipients HERE.

- Mentored colleagues in TB prevention efforts
- Inspired colleagues to initiate TB prevention activities
- Helped at risk populations/individuals access TB prevention services
- Supported current TB patients/high risk individuals
Andy Lopez Memorial Award
The Andy Lopez Award honors exceptional contributions by allied health professionals to tuberculosis control in California. It provides support for travel and attendance at the annual conference, where the award is presented.
Private Partner Award
The Private Partner Award recognizes a private sector partner who has advanced CTCA’s mission through demonstration of leadership in tuberculosis patient care and community prevention.
Brenda Ashkar Award
The Brenda Ashkar Award is presented to a registered nurse in California who works in tuberculosis control. Recipients demonstrate leadership, flexibility, creativity, and a commitment to improving the health of their community.
Patient Advocate Award
The Patient Advocate Award honors those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to supporting those affected by tuberculosis. This award recognizes advocates who have worked to amplify patient voices.
Henry A. Renteln Award
Established in 1984, the Henry A. Renteln Award has been presented to a practitioner or public health official with 15+ years of experience who has made significant contributions to tuberculosis control in California.
Honorary Members
Honorary members are esteemed colleagues, often retired from tuberculosis program leadership roles, whom we hope to keep engaged in California’s tuberculosis elimination efforts. These recipients receive free admission to all CTCA meetings and conferences.
