World Tuberculosis Day - March 24th

Materials from past WTBD events below.

On March 24, 1882, Dr. Robert Koch discovered the TB bacillus. In 1982,  the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Union Against TB and Lung Disease celebrated the 100th anniversary of his discovery, establishing March 24 as World TB Day, to call attention to the ongoing global challenge of TB and what it will take to eliminate TB.

AAPCHO and CTCA will co-host a World TB Day Zoom Meeting on Thursday, April 8th, Noon-1 PST for TB care and prevention providers and partners throughout California. Talks include: A survivor-advocate’s TB journey, 2020 California TB data and priority TB elimination strategies, and AAPCHO’s work to increase efficacy of TB prevention efforts for AANHPI communities disproportionately impacted by TB. Light up the Red!

On March 24th, landmarks around the world light up red to commemorate World TB Day. San Francisco City Hall lit up in support of TB care and prevention once again in 2021. Thank you!
