On March 24, 1882, Dr. Robert Koch discovered the TB bacillus, a pivotal moment in the fight against tuberculosis. A century later, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Union Against TB and Lung Disease (IUATLD) designated March 24 as World TB Day to raise awareness of the ongoing global challenge of TB.
